 Given that the A9 bypasses Alness, I was surprised at how many emergency vehicles were hurtling along its main street yesterday evening, and then at how busy the road seemed in general when I was going to sleep. A look at a map of traffic speeds gave me the impression that there must have been some kind of incident on the A9 and that traffic was coming through the town to avoid it. It's now the next morning, the road is a lot quieter and there's a bit of low-level mist in the air.
