 This is where I will be staying tonight: The Spread Eagle at Gailey. I've been past it many times before but I don't think I've even been in. My parents grew up in Cannock, about 8 km from here and when I was young that was where most of my relatives lived. I occasionally heard this pub mentioned and got the impression that people from Cannock think of it as the limit of their local area. Beyond here there are dragons, almost literally because the anybody going beyond this point would probably be heading to Wales. The Spread Eagle is situated on the North side of the A5 road, which means that to get here I have just entered the region where road numbers start in a 5.
