I'm not actually going to the promontory in the picture but it's quite interesting. The square white building on it was the Lloyds Signal Station, which opened in 1872. Messages could be sent to there by telegram and would then be relayed from there to passing ships using semaphore flags. The system aso worked in the other direction of course.

What I have actally come to see here is the ground off to the right.
