Although St. John's point only deflects that theoretical rubber band by 2 degrees, I think it's actually the most significant of all the places that I will be visiting on the Caithness coast. That's because, measured in a straight line, where I'm standing now is 977.3 km away from where I was in this picture. No two points in Great Britain are further apart than that. For comparison, Land's End and John O'Groats are 970.0 km apart. I don't really know why they get the fame. They might just be the two points on the "A" road network which are which are furthest apart by road.

When I started this trip, I didn't really know where I would end up but I did have a hope of getting to here. I would class the journey from Lizard Point to here as the main achievement of this trip. Everything before Lizard Point and after here is mostly just me visiting other nearby corners of that convex hull.
