 This could be as far as I come on this trip. I wasn't much looking forward to the next week or so of riding anyway: all the days when the wind is in my favour will be rainy and all the sunny days will have the wind against me. It's also turned a bit chilly. After about half an hour of looking online and considering various options, I've decided that my best plan is to return to Mount Vernon and hire a car for the remaining 12 days to drive to New York. It will cost around $1300, which is about the same as a train ticket to New York in an en-suite cabin. If I get a car today I will still be able to reach the non-refundable hotel which I have booked for tonight.
