 Coming from this direction, the hotel is the first building in the town, which is called Sneek in Dutch and Snits in Fresian. I once read a book by somebody who came here, possibly Danny Wallace, and he explained how it's pronounced so when the receptionnist at the prison hotel this morning asked me where I was going, I could say it properly.
