 The river in Bremen is the Weser, the same river which I followed from Minden to Nienburg. Incidentally, I have learned since yesterday that that drain cover in the city centre is a charity collecting box which plays the animal noises whenever somebody puts coins into it. The writing is in a local dielect and says something along the lines of "Don't bark, don't growl and put something in the Bremen hole". Also, all the gold in that alleyway was paid for by the man who invented decaffienated coffee.
