I have been told that the loudspeakers which I saw in Challis are sirens, which often signal weather warnings. They can produce different patterns of sound for different types of warnings, which I think is what this poster in Slovenia was trying to explain. A siren went off while I was in Glenrock. I didn't know what it meant and couldn't tell where it was coming from. My best guess was that it was coming from a pole which looked like the short one in this picture. I've seen similar poles in Dubois and Casper.
