 I've been to the bike shop. It didn't have quite the cornucopia of touring tyres that the man on the phone described last week but I got one which seems pretty good, just a bit narrower than my previous one. I also got the chap there to give the bike a bit of a check-up. For instance, he replaced the chain, except he didn't really because he replaced it with one which I had brought with me, then he asked if he could use my tools to do it, and then he went off to do something else and left me to do it myself. All in all though, I'm happy that the bike is in good condition. Beyond the Eastridge Mall, the cycle path continues as gravel. I would have ridden on the main road instead but one carriageway of it is closed off and there's a contraflow with no shoulder.
