 The presumed owner of the bike shop mentioned that Carbondale is the city which is virtually on the centre line of both the 2017 and 2024 total eclipses. He said that both ends of the city had a wonderful clear view of last week's eclipse but that most of the visiting astronomers had gathered in the sports stadium near the middle of the city, where a cloud blocked the view for all but the last eight seconds of totality.
