 Long grass being blown by the wind. The wind was certainly strong today but not quite as consistent as I had expected. I think it swirls around the mountains, producing some complicated and turbulent currents. One of those electronic road signs showed the speed as 19 m/s, or 43 miles per hour. I don't know it that was the steady speed or the gust speed but it made riding quite tricky at times. For other quite long periods, there was no wind at all. I don't think I ever actually got a tailwind. The long grass was helpful because it meant that I could see what the currents up ahead were like and could prepare myself if a big gust was coming, or know what to expect when I was riding towards a strong steady wind current.
