The wind from the North East is making the sea pretty rough. These waves are breaking over each other even out there on the open sea. There's an amazing roaring noise up here on deck, with occasional howling and, every now and then, an eerie silence.

Previously whenever the sea was rough, the ship would pitch up and down. Now that the wind direction has changed, it's stopped doing that and started rolling from side to side instead. It was amusing just now at dinner to watch people making their way around the buffet and only moving forward when it was downhill. The staff serving the drinks seemed to be coping admirably though.

I now have to go down and up two flights of stairs to reach my cabin because I don't feel safe crossing the open deck to reach it on this floor.
