It's common in the Netherlands that whre a cycle path runs alongside a major road, it diverts round the back of each petrol station like this. There's usually a sneaky way through the fence so that people like me can get in to buy ice lollies. The Netherlands is about the only place where I think you can get away with eating them while riding. It does tend to make the handlebars sticky though.
