 This is the start of the 97 km event in the Franja Marathon, a large cycling event. There were hundreds of bikes involved. They were coming through here like this for about ten minutes. It's not the Tour de Slovenia, which is in a couple of weeks. Cycling seems to be very popular around here and there are good cycle lanes almost everywhere. I passed a bike shop yesterday and I've seen a lot of posters advertising what I assume is a chain of bike shops. I could do with finding one because, apart from my problems with the wheel, somebody has stolen my front light. I take the back light off at night because it looks a bit fragile and I'm worried about it getting broken but I've been leaving the front one on except in London, Milan and Venice, where I thought somebody might have taken it. It's not critical at the moment though. I don't think there's much chance of needing lights in this weather, although cars in Slovenia are required to have lights on at all times.
