A few days ago, I read a journal by somebody who took the route which I am taking now, but in the opposite direction. He mentioned something about having to get a lift through a tunnel but since he seemed to do it once in the evening and then again the next morning, I assumed the tunnel was on some kind of side road leading to a campsite. I was a little alarmed when I looked at a map in a shop at Mount Carmel Junction and saw that there was quite a long tunnel on my road, which looks like the only road through the park. For a while, I was worried that I wouldn't be allowed to ride through it. It's fine though, look. Here's the tunnel information board and it doesn't say anything about bikes not being allowed. It just says that vehicles over a certain size aren't allowed and ones which are nearly that big need an escort, which is available form 8 am to 8 pm. That's quite a relief. It would have required a long detour to avoid the tunnel.
