 The second climb was one of those good ones: very gradual and through pleasant scenery like this. I found a working phone in Escalante and called a bike shop in St. George. I had expected to have to spend several minutes and a huge number of these stupid little coins phoning round all of the bike shops there until I found one which opens on Sundays. That turned out to be unnecessary though as the man in the first shop told me, rather more cheerfully than was really necessary in my opinion, that none of them do. It looks like I'll have a choice between staying in St. George until Monday and trying to get all the way to Las Vegas on my present tyres.
