 After a while, I began to wish I had never seen the cycle path. It started off as good smooth tarmac but degenerated into this kind of thing. In places, there was a thick layer of sand across it so I couldn't control the bike and couldn't see the shape of the jagged lumps of tarmac underneath. In other places, huge boulders were strewn right across the road.
