Here come the hills. Today is the day I enter the Rockies. It will be a day of about 105 miles but I feel confident about it. I left the hotel as early as I had intended and, after a quick visit to the drive-through bank, was on the road.

My only concern is that as I was leaving Pueblo, I heard a noise which sounded like a broken spoke flapping around. When I checked the wheel, the spokes were all intact but some weren't as tight as they should be. Worryingly though, it looked like there were some cracks appearing in the wheel rim around where the spokes attached. I don't know how long it has been like that or whether I should be concerned about it. I'm sure it will get me up into the mountains though. There are a couple of bike shops in Salida, where I will be spending tonight, and tomorrow's planned ride is short enough that I will have time to visit a bike shop first. One of them must open on Thursdays.

I took advantage of Internet connection at last night's hotel to book the next six nights. It's good to be back on my original schedule.
