Dinner. In my experience, European hotels are never very keen on guests eating in their rooms. Some expressly forbid it. If I want to do my own shopping and eat it in the hotel, I normally feel I have to smuggle it in in a bag and get the rubbish out the same way afterwards.

However, last night's and tonight's hotels both had microwave ovens in the room and menus from pizza deliver places in the official information pack so I thought perhaps the policy was different here. I tried ordering a pizza last night but the first two times I phoned they didn't answer and the third time, 40 minutes before they should have closed, I got a recording saying that they wouldn't be open today. Tonight, I did order one from Pizza Hut and was amazed, not only that it arrived in 20 minutes rather than the 40 I had been quoted, but that whereas I was expecting to receive a phone call from reception telling me that my pizza had arrived, and possibly that I would have to eat it in the car park, the pizza was delivered straight to my room! I really never considered that that might happen but I looks like it's commonly done here. I needn't have put my wet trainers back on if I had known.
