 I've got a new pedal. That bike shop across the road closes for a siesta in the afternoon and then stays open until half past seven in the evening. I bought the pedals which looked most like my old ones, without looking at the price. It turns out that they were only €7 and feel a bit cheap but they are still better than the old one. The people in the shop were strangely concerned to know which pedal I needed and to check that one of the two in the box was indeed a right pedal. I don't know whether they have had problems with that before. Maybe they just wanted to know so that they could stick that bit of white tape on there to show me which was the right one. I would have found out as soon as I started trying to screw then in. What I did find when I came to screw it in was that the bit where you put the spanner is narrower than on most other pedals so my spanner doesn't fit. I'll try just making it finger tight for now. If it falls off then I'll probably have to try padding the spanner with bits of cardboard or something.
