 I'm still on what's left of the northbound carriageway of the old A74, on the route of the old coach road to Glasgow. North of Abington it is now known as the B7078. The modern motorway is still within earshot but the railway has now separated from us. It's following the River Clyde down to Glasgow whereas the roads are taking a shorter route.
