 Both times that I've experienced a total eclipse before, the sky has been overcast. On those occasions, when the sky darkened it just felt like the clouds were becoming very thick and black as if it was about to pour with rain. We've all experienced thick black clouds like that before so it felt fairly normal. I'm now discovering that a total eclipse on a sunny day feels much stranger. The sky is still blue and the sunlight is still coming from above and casting shadows in the usual way but it's much darker than it should be. The lights in the shed have come on automatically and the fact that you can see that bulb shining gives you an idea how dark it is.
