 Anybody who is able to carry all their luggage off the ship without help is allowed to do so. They can get off before everybody else and then they don't have to wait at a baggage reclaim. In 2007 I reassembled the bike in my room and made use of that rule to wheel it off the ship so that I could make an early start on my first day's ride. If I did that tomorrow though I would be at Southampton station about five hours too early for the train that I've booked so I'm instead I'm going to let the bike be treated as luggage, and then reassemble it somewhere near the terminal.
