 Now that I have reached it, I can see what it is and I'm glad I didn't bother waiting. There hasn't been a train along here in my lifetime. This is one of the test tracks for the Aerotrain, a monorail which hovered like a hovercraft and was propelled by jet engines. This 18 km track was built in 1969 and last used in 1977. The 430 km/h world speed record for hovercraft was set on this track.
