 At a junction on the way out of Burg auf Fehmarn, I merged into a group of about 40 school-age children on bikes, and then got stuck with them for about 4 km. The one who was in front of me for a lot of the way had the noisiest bike I have ever encountered. He kept trying to fix it by kicking anything that was in reach of his feet but it didn't help. All of the cyclists who passed us going in the other direction were at least as heavily loaded as I am and had obviously just got off the ferry from Denmark.
