 New and old tyres. They are exactly the same type. The old ones still have plenty of tread but in my experience, they most often tend to fail by bursting open around the rim and it's hard to tell when that will happen. The end of one of the spokes has gone rusty inside the wheel rim. I guess that must have been the one which was at the bottom one time when the bike was sitting out in the rain overnight. The online weather forecast shows no more rain for the next week, whereas the hand-drawn foreacast on a whiteboard in the hotel shows rain today. It would actually rain for a while just after dark this evening so perhaps the wheel will have two rusty spokes by tomorrow.
