There are four motorways and some railways which tunnel under the North Sea Canal but none of the tunnels allow bikes. The only ways to get cross the canal by bike are the lifting bridge which I used in 2011 at the far east end of the canal, and the locks at the far west end. There are also several ferries, including the one which crosses here. On this trip, the bike and I have already travelled in four ships, three elevators and a bus so using this ferry wouldn't be a big deal but I've got plenty of time so I'm heading for the locks.
