 About half an hour into today's ride, the pedal fell has fallen off again. I put it back on and it lasted for about a minute before coming off again. I tried again and that time, it would stay on for the rest of the day, although I would spend the next couple of hours considering ways that I could get home if the bike were to become unusable.
