A few days ago, I mentioned that on my 2003 trip, I was impressed at how German hotelliers could speak simply to people like me who don't know much German. The reason why I noticed that was because I had just come from Sweden, where they can't stop talking. This place was a classic example. As soon as I arrived, the woman showed me the room that I had booked and then to this much bigger room, and persuaded me to pay about £10 extra for this one. She then talked at length about how there is coffee at reception but I can buy a beer there later if I want, where I am and am not allowed to drink my own alcohol, and that I am allowed to eat the apples from the trees. She said I could put my bike in the garage and that it would be locked at night. Then she explained the controls for the air conditioner, the cooker and the cooker hood, and showed me that there were towels on the bed and toilet roll in the usual place next to the toilet, and that the water is very good here so I won't need bottled water. We went outside and she explained which chairs I'm not allowed to sit in because they belong to another room, but then also pointed out all the ones that I am allowed to sit in. She explained that this is the Cow room because all the rooms here are named after farmyard animals and this is the second biggest. Surprisingly, she didn't actually specify what the biggest was called.
