 I'll warn you now that I don't expect this year's trip to be anything spectacular. I wasn't covering great distances each day last summer and I think this year might be even worse. In fact, I think I might have only been on a bike twice since finishing last year's trip. What does make this year's trip slightly unusual is that I'm setting off without having made any firm plans at all. I have a vague idea of which direction I want to go but it's three o'clock in the afternoon now and I haven't even booked a hotel for tonight yet. I'm starting this year from the station in North Fambridge. The thumbnail picture for this Geoff Marshall video was taken in this shelter, where he spent 40 minutes mostly lying on the ground after discovering that there's nowhere to buy a cup of tea around here.
