 In the previous village, I saw a French flag flying from a signpost and it made me wonder whether perhaps I had got onto the route of this year's Tour de France. This writing pretty much confirmed it. I came to see a bit of the race a couple of months ago, on the day that France won the World Cup. It turns out that the race came through here 20 miles and 42 minutes after I saw it. I don't know whether there is a cyclist called Tricheur, which would be unfortunate, or whether somebody here is calling Chris Froome a cheater.
