 "BRIDGE OPEN ENGINE OFF" The terms "open" and "closed" are obviously applied to bridges in the Netherlands from the point of view of river traffic, not road traffic. It confused me for a moment a couple of days ago when that other cyclist told me that he had had to turn back because the bridge was open.
