 I got to the place where I'm staying tonight five minutes after the end of the hour in which I had said I would arrive. The front door was shut, just like in the publicity pictures. There was a knob next to the door which turned out to be on the end of the rod attached to this bell. The only reason why I even thought to pull it was that I had heard somebody ring a similar bell in the next street while I was locking my bike. The place has three guest rooms but I'm the only guest here tonight. The owner showed me to my room and demonstrated all of the facilities without ever asking who I was. It's lucky that I wasn't just somebody who had come to read the meter.
