When I was checking in here, there was a man in reception enquiring whether anywhere around here had availability for the day of the eclipse. He wasn't having much luck. By the time I left, the receptionist was talking about whether any campsites might not be fully booked yet. I've heard from two sources today that Oregon, which has a population of four million, is expecting a million visitors for the eclipse. Apparently, the authorities here are thinking of shutting the motorway to keep people out. I booked my hotels for the week of the eclipse over a year ago but if anything happens which means that I can't stick to my schedule, I'll have problems.
