There's ...
There's a video which I have seen a couple of times about lifts. I wouldn't particularly recommend watching it; it really is just a two hour lecture about the controls in lifts. I don't know why I've watched it twice. In that video, they say that you can often tell which company made the control panel just by looking that the font and the shape of the buttons. It turns out that they were right. This is very obviously what they call "your classic, classic low-rise elevator system by Dover". Incidentally, I did end up using the stairs in this morning's hotel because when I called the lift, some strange grinding noises came from the lift shaft and it never arrived. Opening to door to the stairs didn't set off any alarms.
