I thought these were ...
I thought these were Romanian-style haystacks but somebody looking at my pictures has pointed out that they are actually corn shocks, which were originally a way of drying the corn stalks but are now normally just for ornamental purposes. I would guess that the ELEVENTH SHOCK of the Beaconsfield tithes was something similar, although it was probably wheat because maize wasn't known in Europe in time immemorial.
