Two points about this petrol price sign. Firstly, and this has been annoying me all the way from Idaho, there's already a decimal point in that number. It makes no sense to try to wedge a fraction into it as well. Secondly, I've been seeing reports on the news going on about how petrol prices are soraing because the hurricane has shut down some refineries. Assuming that this is trying to say $2.659 per four fifths of a gallon, then that's 54p per litre. If, like with food, they've mind-bogglingly forgotten about the state sales tax when trying to quote the price then it might actually be a bit more than that but it's still absurdly cheap.
