I forgot to take a close-up in New Zealand to show how illusion knitting works so it's good to have another chance. Some stitches protrude from the surface and others lie flat, depending on whether they are knit or purl. In a region where one colour protrudes and the other doesn't, only the protruding one can be seen from the sides.
