By a stroke of luck, I've been given one of very few rooms in this hotel with a view in this direction. It was worth the 105 stairs to get up here. What we see here are the next three grounds on my itinerary. The one in the background with the white wooden gables and the round floodlight arrangements is the cricket ground Trent Bridge. In the early days of football, many clubs shared their grounds with cricket or athletic clubs and Trent Bridge is where Notts County played in the opening season of the League. The building in front of that, with the red latticework on top and the square floodlight in the middle of the picture is the City Ground, home of Nottingham Forest. The one which looks like a warehouse and has the sparser floodlight arrangements is Meadow Lane, home of Notts County.
