If a club is called "Wanderers", it indicates that in its early days, the club didn't have its own ground and had to play matches at whatever venues were available. In 1881, Bolton Wanderers did acquire a permanent ground called moved into a ground called Pike's lane, which was where I am now, but they have moved twice again since then.

Bolton were one of the twelve clubs in the inuaugural season of the League, which is why I've come here. The league started on Saturday 8th September 1888. Bolton were one of the teams playing at home that day and at 15:02, they scored the first ever goal in any football league in the world somewhere within a hundred metres of where I'm standing.
