 Modern versions of the MyTracks GPS logging application label each recording with a picture of a walker, a bike or a car. The choice must be based somehow on speed but I don't know exactly what algorithm is used. From experience, it doesn't seem to be maximum speed but it can't be the average either because there are some tracks here where I left the logger running for a long time after I had stopped moving. However it's done, it's nice to see that I scored all cars today.
