The Crystal Palace was a huge wrought-iron and glass pavillion built in Hyde Park in Central London for the Great Exhibition of 1851. In 1854, it was rebuilt even larger in this park in South London, where it survived until 1936. The name Crystal Palace has subsequently come to denote this whole area of London. The park contains some lakes, dinosaur exhibits, a maze, a concert venue and the National Sports Centre. The current athletics stadium here was opened in 1964 bit it's on the site of the stadium which hosted every FA Cup final from 1895 to 1915 apart from replays, which were played in the North.
