The Bank of England. While doing research for this trip, I found that there are a few amateur-only leagues, which are registered with the Football Association and run like some of the lower leagues in the pyramid but aren't attached to the rest of the hierarchy by systems of promotion and relegation. Many of the clubs which play in those amateur divisions are types of clubs which played in the early days of the FA Cup. They include the football clubs of several major banks, including the Bank of England. For a while, I was considering going to watch the Bank of England play against a local team yesterday at their sports ground not far from Fulham.

Being strictly amateur, those clubs don't trade in players but I like the idea that if they did, the Bank of England could buy a top-class player from, say, the Bank of Scotland and then ask if they had change for a £100 million note.

I also quite like how two of the entrances to Bank Underground station come up through the wall of the bank.
