 Victoria Park in Hartlepool was opened in 1886 as a rugby ground but became a football ground in 1908 when the rugby club went bust. Its current capacity is 7856 and its record attendance is 17264. In 1908, Hart, Hartlepool and West Hartlepool were separate places so the football club, which represented all of them, was called Hartlepools United. The name was changed to just Hartlepool when the towns were merged in 1968. In 1977, it became Hartlepool United.
