I bought a new, bigger, thicker, stiffer tyre which claims to be "flatless". Unfortunately, when I put it on the bike, it was so big that it rubbed against two of the screws holding the mudguard in place so the wheel wouldn't turn. The very helpful man in the shop replaced one of those screws with a lower-profile one and made some other adjustments so that everything was fine.

There are a lot of loose stones on the roads. Perviously, the wheels would sometimes pick them up and rattle them around inside the mudguards. Now there's so little space in there that the stones sometimes get stuck and make horrible scraping noises. At one point today when I would be pushing the bike up a hill, a stone would get in there and actually stop the wheel turning. I hope that doesn't happen when I'm speeding down a hill.
