 It seems that the first sign you get of any town in New Zealand is the airfield. Here at Wanaka, you can have a go at flying a plane yourself. The warnings that I heard about motorists in New Zealand being hostile to cyclists seem to be completely unfounded, at least here in the South Island. A motorist who was about to drive through this shot actually stopped to let me take the picture.
