 Immersing my rear inner tube in water has just revealed three further punctures. I've fixed them and switched to using a type of tube which I've used before instead but now I'm starting to run out of patches. Just as worryingly, I've just found that in one place, the tyre has worn down enough to show the red marks which mean that it is nearing the end of its life, which is incredible as this bike has only gone about 600 km. I just mentioned this to the man running the motel. He tried to reassure me that it would be fine by showing me his bike which he bought in Oxford and which has done 18000 km. I wasn't very reassured though because his had two completely flat tyres.
