A lot of miners in Australia live in temporary camps during periods when they are working and fly back home during their time off. This hotel seems to be set up mainly to handle them on their way to and from the airport. I was sent a lengthy e-mail explaining how to get in if I arrived after reception closed.

I think this is only the second hotel room I've ever had on land which has had no windows. Instead, it just has two translucent skylights. There are no blinds on them though. All the light in this picture is coming through the skylights and there's no way to shut it out, which I would have thought would be unhelpful for a miner whose flight or work shift was at an awkward time and who wanted to sleep during dalight hours.
