If you thought Adelaide time was weird, just look at this. The local time here is used along a 350 km section of this road, all but 1 km of which is in Western Australia. There are five roadhouses in that region so the permanent population must be about 50 but at any time there are probably something like 300 travellers. It's 8.75 hours heade of UTC. That time was originally chosen because it was the average of Western Australia time and South Australia time but nowadays South Australia uses daylight saving time in the summer so it isn't even that.

It's not a completely official time zone, and doesn't generally appear on maps of the world's time zones, but everybody here uses it. The road signs tell you about it so it must be reasonably official. When roadhouses along this section of road specify the opening hours of their restaurant or what time you have to vacate your room, this is the time that they use.
