The main gist of the reviews of this motel is that it's incredibly clean, which is why I was surprised I was allowed to bring the bike into the room. It's easier if I do because it means that when I leave in the morming, I don't have to pack my bags once in the room and then again to include the lock once I've left the room and unlocked the bike. Also, if it's in here, I can dry my clothes on it.

The owner was saying that they quite often get cyclists in here. I've seen virtually no cyclists outside the towns in Australia but apparently two women came through here only two nights ago. They are going the same way as me and doing about 70 km per day. That's how far I went today and it felt very short so normally I would be expecting to catch up with them soon. However, I'm now only 150 km from the bike shop in Melbourne and I've got four full days before my bike is due there for its service so I'll have to either slow down further or think of something to do in Melbourne for a few days. What I might actually do is get to Melbourne soon and then just just stay indoors there as the temperature is predicted to be about 40 degrees in the middle of next week. The wall on the left in this room already feels hot from the Sunlight shining on the other side.

I've now had a e-mail from the people who run tomorrow night's motel warning me that when I get there, I might find that there is nobody around and all the power is off and that I should just let myself in and wait for it to come back on.
